an unspecified stench permeates an empty room
where children once played.
Outside a child's trike rusts from neglect;
someone's killing someones children with
no regrets.
Racist thoughts spawn violent reaction.
The blood of contempt stains the portrait
of innocence.
Shifting blame from side to side
seems the temporary solution -
wash your hands of someones fault
certainly not your own.
A grieving mom curses shelved morals.
Someone has her blood on his hands.
No guilt or shame to act as justice.
Moms will vengeance and burn cigarettes
in effigy.
Two bibles nailed to a wall
a morbid stench prevails
children sleeping safely now
